Seaboree 2019

ASEAN SEABOREE  is one of the best camps I have ever attended in my scouting journey. Throughout this camp,  I learned many new skills and made many new friends that I am still in contact with until now. This camp is an experience that I will never forget. The countries participating in this camp included Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Bangladesh, and many others more .We were then assigned into 4 various subcamps. My subcamp was Royal Fortune. Since there was a lot of people we were then further split into 2 groups to make it easier to manage the activities. During the camp scouts managed to participate in activities such as kayaking, row boating, sailing and scuba diving. Us Participating in Row Boating The theme of the camp was Sustainability, Education, and Adventure as such, we also participated in the Leave No Trace activity. This activity gave me the chance to see how dirty the water which made me appreciate people who keep it clean and motivates me to keep Singapo...

combined campfire with CHIJ St Theresa Convert

Image
My Troop hosted our annual campfire this year but with a twist, This campfire was combined with the guides from CHIJ STC. The campfire process was planned by both schools. The start of the combined campfire preparations we were split into respective campfire patrols and got to know our patrol members with ice breakers. My mentor helped me interact with the guides as I was initially quite awkward around them as I did not know any of them. With his help our patrol interacted a lot. My patrol members during the campfire. During the second cohesion meeting we went to their school  for more games. Thankfully since we had interacted with them before it was less awkward among us. Since it was a campfire we decided to make some pioneering structures. I was The 2IC in the pioneering project. At first i was just tying the knots instead of telling people what to do so it put a lot of stress on my mentor. After seeing him struggle I realize that I should help him lead instead of doing so...

First time participating in NDP

Image
Yesterday I participated in NDP for the first time. I was very stressed as I had been practicing the drills for weeks and on the day itself I wanted to make sure I do not mess up my drills. However during the parade I felt very calm as I just took as another practice. Thankfully I did not mess up and was proud of myself. After the parade I felt very relived. I would like to take part in more parades and maybe take on different roles in the parade.

Canoeist I

In sec 2 camp our school sent us for a One star kayaking course. The course was 2 days. On the first day I was feeling nervous as I didn't know how to swim and was afraid to fall. But as time went on I was feeling more confident as the instructor thought us a lot of things. Moreover I saw a lot of my friends fall into the water and saw how they managed to get out. On day 2 we learnt how to recover if we our boat capsized. We also learnt how to help someone whose boat had capsized. Overall I learnt a lot from the course. This is my Kayaking One star Certification

Musician

I learnt how to play Guzheng when I was P2 as our school had a program for students to learn how to play it at the start I thought it was very though as we had to pluck the wires to make a sound. But as they thought us more I learnt a lot and managed to pass the course. To pass the course my class had to do a performance and show the instructor that we knew how to play it. This is my Guzheng Certification from P2. And when I joined scouts I realized there was a musician badge so I decided to use this certification to get it.

World Friendship

World Friendship Proficiency Badge Carry out a study of your friend’s country and present to your patrol the difference in the way of life between that country and your own. I am researching with my friend, John, who is a citizen of the Philippines. I am going to discuss a few things with him regarding his country. How is life different in the Philippines? Life in the Philippines is really different from Singapore. Singapore is a bustling metropolis while the Philippines is more of a rural condition (from where I live). Education Education in the Philippines is really different from SG. SG follows the UK method of using P1 - P6 and Sec 1 - Sec 4, but PH follows the US method of using Kindergarten to Grade 12 Behavior in Philippines  In the Philippines, due to the lack of education, I usually see a lot of crime happening. That is why SG is much safer in the PH. But overall, the people are generally kind with great hospitality. Seriously, whenever I go to another country, I do...
