I am currently a Secondary 2 Scout from St Gabriel's Southern Cross Scout Unit. I decided to start this blog to post about my scouting journey and will hopefully attain the Chief Commissioner's Award.
Proficiency badges are on of the key elements in scouting as it displays what a scout has achieved. I started working on my proficiency badges as I thought it looked cool on the uniform. My PL told me to submit certificates to attain badges. The badge that made the most impact was Civics as I learnt a lot about Singapore and I also learnt things like Lentor is part of Ang Mo Kio instead of Yio Chu Kang although Lentor is closer to Yio Chu Kang. We also visited the supreme court as part of the component moreover, it was very enjoyable. The badge I enjoy getting the most was world friendship as I interacted with people overseas and learnt about their country and what they enjoy. It was quite enjoyable as I made a new friend while doing it. Some other badges I attain is Musician, Canoeist I, Boat puller I, First aider and Sailor I. Yesterday I did backwoodsman cooking. Our batch decided to make a simple meal( Chicken breasts, Potatoes, eggs and sausages) as we had not done backwoodsman for such a long time due to COVID-19. While my batchmates went to buy the ingredients after it got approved by the teachers. The rest of us collected tinder and kindle for the fire. However we later realized that the ingredients that we bought was not halal this our Muslim scouts could not eat or touch the chicken and sausage. After we got lectured that we should be more careful when buying food we started cooking. After we reached the backwoodsman area we starting to dig our individual pits we decided to create a teepee structure. We also washed all the cooking equipment and have the cooking stations prepared. After which we started the fire using a matchstick and tried to sustain by constantly blowing and adding fuel. When the heat was stable we started to cook the food.
